This starter was a perfect fit for my Avalon. My car started taking several turns of the key to finally engage the starter until one morning where the starter went out and the starter wouldn't disengage. That was a little scary.

You can buy a starter solenoid for about $90 at Napa, which was probably the problem. But I did not want to do this this job again, and who knows if something else with the starter went bad. Then I would have to buy a starter anyway.

Packaging was good and installation was fairly easy. My car started perfectly after installation. Remove the air filter housing if you have a older Avalon. That will make it possible to do this job. I would rate my mechanic skill at about a 6 out of 10 and it took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.

Don't get your hopes up by reading the instruction manual on how to install this thing, because it basically tells you disconnect the battery, remove old starter, install new starter and... Read more
